PUBG Mobile confirmed that the upcoming 0.19.0 update would introduce a new map in the game, Livik. Initially, players thought that Livik would be like any other map in PUBG Mobile. However, the upcoming map will only support 40-player matches.
PUBG Mobile’s producer, Rick Li, confirmed to The Verge that matches in Livik would last for a maximum of 15 minutes. The short matches in Livik is a way for players to enjoy “PUBG Mobile in a more flexible way.”
The exclusive Livik map is already playable in the beta version of PUBG Mobile. The map is only 2×2 kilometers; thus, it is the smallest map in PUBG Mobile as of yet.
It makes sense why the developers restricted the maximum number of players to 40. That’s because 100 players in such a small map would have been pure chaos.
Also, quick matches in Livik will be a blessing for players who don’t get enough free time to play full-length matches in Erangel or Miramar.
“The initiative for this map is bringing more flexibility to those players who have tighter schedules and circumstances to accommodate for,” said Li to The Verge.
In the interview, Li also talked about the beautiful waterfalls in Livik, a visual feature that isn’t available in any other PUBG Mobile map.
He said that players might get washed away due to the rapid water flow when standing on top of the waterfall. This characteristic can be used by players to form multiple surprise tactics.
As of now, there is no official release date for Livik. However, players can expect the map to launch with the release of 0.19.0 update.
