Zee5 is soon going to take over the market of short videos making platforms with its brand new app HiPi. At a time when the Indian government has banned TikTok, among 59 Chinese apps, the debut of an Indian TikTok alternative by ZEE5 can change the scenario of the Indian video industry.
ZEE5 is boasting HiPi as an Indian TikTok alternative created for the Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) as mentioned by the company. The app will allow users to create and share 90-second-videos on the platform. Given that anti-China sentiments are rapidly increasing in the country, it will certainly give a boost to India-made HiPi.
Zee5 HiPi: Made in India TikTok alternative
The name HiPi defines the vision behind the development of the Indian TikTok alternative, which means youthful and carefree. As per the features of the app are concerned, HiPi is said to give a tough competition to other similar apps.
ZEE5 also said that HiPi is going to be the best platform for the storytellers. A 90-second video is enough to tell a short tale or perform any sort of art. As of now, there is no word about other features of the Indian TikTok alternative, like special effects. Speculations are that these specs will be revealed a day or two before the launch.
HiPi competitors
As of now, HiPi has to tackle other video platforms like Chingari, Roposo, and Mitron. As of now Roposo has crossed 50 million downloads, Chingari crossed 5 million downloads and Mitron has crossed more than 10 million downloads on the Google Play Store.
ZEE5 has already crossed 100 million downloads on the Google Play Store. This will also provide a push to HiPi in the beginning. As HiPi is a fully homegrown app, it will be interesting the see how the Indian audience reacts to it.
